NORTHERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY
AND
GATEWAY COMMUNITY AND TECHNICAL COLLEGE PARTNERSHIP
Bridge to Success Partnership

Partnership Main Page

Northern Kentucky University (NKU) and Gateway Community and Technical College (Gateway) created a partnership in which instructional resources are shared in order to:

  • Maximize access to general education classes for Gateway students in northern Kentucky
  • Create a cost-effective plan for delivering general education courses for students at Gateway
  • Promote course equivalency and transferability of credit from Gateway to NKU
  • Preserve the tuition structure of the two institutions
  • Preserve the academic integrity of programs at both institutions
  • Preserve and enhance accreditation standards at both institutions

The partnership has three main components:

    1. Dual Admissions Program
    2. Articulation Agreements (Course and Program Equivalencies)
    3. Course Credit Transferability Policies

The program makes it easier for students to tailor their education to fit personal goals, preferences, and timelines. Students work with advisors from both institutions to make sure every course counts toward a specific degree.

Benefits of completing an advanced degree

There are countless positive differences that a quality education can make for an individual. As stated by researchers with the Kentucky Long-Term Policy Research Center:

"The so-called Next Economy highlights the importance of reduction for individuals and society. In this fast-paced, technological, and knowledge-based economy, the low educational attainment and achievement levels of Kentucky's population put the state at risk of being left behind."
